Nanoori Hospital Shanghai opens from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm on weekdays, 9:00am – 1:00pm on Saturdays, and closes on Sundays and holidays. Please be aware that there is a short lunch break from 12:00pm – 1:00 pm on weekdays.

Do I have to make an appointment before seeing a doctor?

Nanoori Hospital Shanghai uses appointment-based system. We strongly recommend you to call us at 4000-785-995 or visit our website to make an appointment. Walk-in service is also available. We will try our best to accommodate you into the schedule.

How many days in advance should I book my appointment?

Please make an appointment at least 1 day in advance for us to arrange your visit.

What should I do after making an appointment?

Once your appointment is scheduled, we will contact you for confirmation. On the day of your appointment, please directly visit our hospital and inform our receptionist of your appointment information.

Does Nanoori Hospital Shanghai provide direct billing services through health insurances?

Yes. We provide convenient direct billing settlement for myriad partner insurance companies. Please check with our Customer Service Team for details. If you are entitled to a PAY AND CLAIM, our team will assist you in preparing all documents available for your claim. Please remember to bring your ID card or passport and insurance card with you.

If my insurance company does not collaborate with Nanoori Hospital Shanghai for direct billing services, what should I do?

If we haven’t built a DIRECT BILLING relationship with your insurance company, we will assist you in preparing all documents for a PAY AND CLAIM. If you do not have Health Insurance, we also accept Cash, Credit Cards, mobile payment.

Where can I buy healthcare insurance?

Nanoori Hospital Shanghai does not sell health insurances. However, we can provide you with the contact information of the third-party agencies or some related insurance companies that can assist.

Does my insurance plan cover all my medical fees at Nanoori Hospital Shanghai?

There are many different types of insurance policies and each of them has different benefits. For medical imaging, such as CT and MRI or major surgery, we will contact your insurance company 24-48 hours in advance to gain a confirmation letter. In case of emergencies, our hospital will treat the patient first. However, patients have to bear the cost of the program that cannot be covered by their insurance company.

Epidural Neuroplasty

When can I start taking a shower?
2 days after the procedure, you can remove the adhesive bandage and shower.

When can I start exercising?
You should regularly exercise your back muscle starting from a day after the procedure.

What exercise can I do?
Walking at least 30 minutes a day is the best exercise for your spine. Exercise and strengthen your back muscle. Swimming, especially freestyle and backstroke, is a good exercise for the back.

When can I start driving?
You can start driving the next day of your procedure. Your back should touch the entire backrest. You must rest or stretch for about 10 minutes every hour .

When can I sit?
You can sit 2 hours after the procedure. However, try to avoid sitting on a ground and sit on the chair instead. Do not sit for more than 30 minutes long, but stand, walk, or lie down.

When can I start drinking alcohol?
Please do not drink alcohol during the medication. It is better to drink alcohol after finishing the medication.

When do soreness and numbness go away?
Usually, stabilizing the nerves takes 4 to 6 weeks. However, it may take up to 2 to 3 months for the symptoms to go away.

What about the items need attention after leaving?
For about 2 weeks, avoid lifting heavy objects, sitting or lying on the floor, or driving for more than an hour.

We will check your wound then remove the suture 7 to 10 days after the surgery. Based on circumstances, we may remove the suture in two separate times. We will remove part of the suture 5 days after the surgery.

When can I start taking a shower or bathing?
You may shower once you remove the bandage 2 days after removing the sutures. You can start bathing or going to a sauna a month after removing the suture.

When can I stop wearing the brace?
You may stop wearing the brace 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery. Make sure the band fits your body correctly. Wear your brace at all times except when you are lying.

When can I start exercising?
You can start exercising after you stop wearing a brace, about 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery.

What kind of exercise can I do after surgery?
While you are wearing a brace, walk on a flat surface, or climb the stairs to exercise.

How should I treat osteoporosis?
To improve bone density, you can receive injection treatment for at least six months (daily injections). Afterward, you can take medication for three months to maintain your condition.

When should I get osteoporosis test?
You should get a bone density test annually.

Surgical Anesthesia

Why do you fast before surgery?
If the stomach contents leak backward into mouth, it can cause suffocation or pneumonia. Therefore, it is important to fast and avoid water for 8 hours before surgery and keep the stomach empty.

Is it true that the teeth may come off during general anesthesia?
Please inform us if you have a weak or broken teeth, or are wearing a denture. We must be careful because the tube inserted into your mouth for breathing may bump into the teeth.

Do you insert a catheter before surgery?
During the anaesthesia, a patient cannot urinate naturally. Therefore, catheter insertion may be necessary based on the duration of the operation.

Is it true that spinal anesthesia causes a lot of back pain?
Because spinal anesthesia injects an anesthetic into the lumbar spine, some worry that spinal anesthesia may cause back pain after surgery. However, this is not the case.

What are the complications after general anesthesia?
If you continue to experience tremor due to nausea, vomiting, or decreased body temperature, your pulse increases and puts too much pressure on your heart. Therefore, you should adjust the room temperature and use a blanket to manage your body temperature. Also, we recommend that you take deep breaths and cough to discharge the organ secretion.

During the surgery, do I have to be naked?
It may vary based on the surgery. In order to prevent any infection during the operation, doctors will wipe the surgical site and the surrounding area 3 to 5 times. Afterward, they cover the body with sterilized clothes except for the surgical site, so there will not be unnecessary exposure of your body parts.

Is it true that anesthesia can affect your brain or cause dementia?
It is not true. Some anesthetics may temporarily put the brain into sleep, but once the drug is cleared out of your body, the effect goes away.

Do I have to quit smoking or drinking?
Alcohol and tobacco may interfere with blood circulation, cause inflammation, and may delay recovery. Therefore, you should remain abstinent for a while before and after the surgery.

Why should I remove my nail polish?
It is essential to check the oxygen level and blood circulation during anesthesia. Doctors can check these by looking at the fingernails and toenails. Therefore, please remove all nail polish before surgery. Also, you must remove makeup.
